I am from the North East of England, a region that has greatly influenced my photography journey. With a passion for capturing breathtaking landscapes, the beauty of wildlife and nature, and the intricate details of still life, I have immersed myself in the world of digital artistry for longer than I can truly comprehend. Throughout the years, the 'Digital Darkroom' has become an integral part of my creative process, enhancing my images and bringing my vision to life.
In the ever-evolving realm of photography, I have had the privilege of honing my skills using Adobe Photoshop and other photo editing packages for over three decades. These powerful tools have not only enabled me to transform my photographs professionally but have also allowed me to express myself creatively as a hobbyist. My proficiency with these software platforms has opened up new avenues and possibilities, elevating my artistry to new heights.
Having dedicated most of my career to working with Canon DSLR's and Mirrorless cameras, I recently made an intriguing decision to switch to the Olympus/OM Systems brand and also introduced the Fujifilm XT5 to my gear list. This change was driven by the desire for a more lightweight and compact setup, one that I could easily carry with me wherever my photographic adventures led me. Although my adoration for Canon gear remains strong, the Olympus system has sparked a newfound excitement within me. Perhaps it is the ergonomic design or the thrill of mastering a different camera system, but this transition has undeniably reignited my passion for photography.
As I continue to explore and evolve my craft, I find myself embarking on an exciting new mission – the art of shooting with 35mm film. With the recent addition of an Olympus OM10 in 2022, I am delving into the realm of analog photography, embracing the unique qualities and nostalgic charm that film provides. This decision has rejuvenated my artistic perspective, challenging me to embrace the unpredictability and patience required in this traditional form of image-making.
